41.1 Step 1: Preparation of 8-bromo-6-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one (compound 45b)
Compound 45a (1 g, 4.35 mmol) and formamidine acetate (1.41 g, 13.56 mmol) were dissolved in absolute ethanol (10 mL) and stirred at 85 °C for 16 hr. After the reaction, the reaction solution was lowered to room temperature, filtered with suction, washed with ethanol, and the filter cake was dried to obtain compound 45b (800 mg).
