4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-37J-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid (143) (1.57 g, 9.39 mmol)) was dissolved in methanol, and thionyl chloride was added at 0 °C. The solution was refluxed for 24 h and the solvent removed. The white residue was used without further purification. Yield 1.50 g (6.89 mmol, 73 %) colorless solid; mp: 140.8-142.3 °C. 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO): 5 9.04 (s, 1H), 4.70 (dd, J= 9.7, 5.5 Hz, I H), 4.33 (d, J= 7.6 Hz, 2H), 3.82 (s, 3H), 3.30 (dd, J = 16.3, 5.3 Hz, 1H), 3.20 - 3.13 (m, 1H). ESI-MS m/z (%): 182.09 [MH+] (100). Anal.calcd for C8H13Cl2 3O2 x 1,5 H20: C 34.29; H 5.71 ; N 15.0; found: C 34.27; H 5.50; N 15.26.
