Example 3; Process for producing 5, 6-dimethyl--1-chloro-7-(3-chlorophe(at)yl)-7H pyrrolo(at)2, 3- -dJpyrimidine; 26.9 g of 4-hydroxy-5,6-dimethyl-7-((3-chlorophenyl)amino) pyrrolo[2,3- -d] pyrimidine (Example 2) was solved in 125 ml of POC13 and the mixture was refluxed for 1 hour, then poured onto ice-water of great excess of at least ten times greater volume, then the precipitated product was filtered off after complete decomposition ofPOCl3 then washed with water and dried. (26.28 g; 92 %).
