General Procedure (GP) for Synthesis of Carboxylic Acid

General procedure: To a solution of methyl acetate 5 (326 mg, 1.0 mmol) in THF/H₂O (1:1, 3 mL) was added LiOH?H₂O (1.5 equiv) at room temperature. After 2 hours at the same temperature, the mixture was concentrated at reduced pressure. The residue was filtered to collect the precipitate and washed with water to give desired carboxylic acid (310 mg, 99%).
