6-chloro-N2,N4-bis(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine 9

To a stirred solution of the cyanuric chloride (184mg, 1 mmol, 1.0 equiv.) in 1 mL acetone was added 3,4-dichloroaniline (324 mg,2 mmol, 2.0 equiv.). Saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate wasadded to keep pH 7.0. After stirring at room temperature for 4 h, the reactionmixture was poured into 3.0 mL ice water. The precipitate was filtered, washedwith water, and dried in vacuo to afford 9 as a white solid (305 mg, 70%yield).
