To a solutionof compound 3 (32.50 g, 0.110 mol) dissolved in CH₂Cl_{2 (400 mL) was added 7% H2}O₂(70.00 mL, 0.160 mmol) and pyridine (12.20 mL, 0.22 mol) at 0 °C, Stir at room temperature for 12 hours.The reaction mixture was diluted with CH2Cl2₍500 mL), washed with water (200 mL) and brine (250 mL₎.The resultingorganic layer was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4_,filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure_.The crude product was purified by silica gel (60-120 mesh) column chromatography using 0-5% EtOAc/hexane to obtain compound 4 (13.00 g, 81%) as a brown liquid.
