To a stirred solution of 3-chloro-4-fluoro-benzoic acid (0.5 g, 2.87 mmol) in THF (5 mL),Me2NH (0.3 mL, 5.74 mmol, 1M in THF) and CDI (0.7 g, 4.31 mmol) were added at RT andstirred for 5 h (TLC indicated complete consumption of starting material). The reactionmixture was quenched with water (40 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3 x 30 mL). Thecombined organic extracts were dried over Na2S04, volatiles were removed under reduced pressure to give the residue which was washed with Et20 and dried to furnish 3-chloro-4-fluoro-N,N-dimethyl-benzamide (450 mg, 78%) as a white solid.LCMS: m/z: 202.40 [M+Ht.
