Catalytic activity evaluation
MO and CR are effective chemicals used to evaluate the reductive-catalytic performance. Typically, a piece of modified foam (0.5 cm width×1.0 cm height) used as catalyst was blended with 3mL of MO or CR dye solution (1mmol) taken in a 4 mL quartz cuvette. The reaction was commenced by adding 0.5 mL of NaBH4 (0.1 M). The time dependent UV-vis spectra were obtained in the range from 200 to 800 nm (visible region). The control experiments were also carried out without modified foam. The degradation kinetics of CR and MO were also studied.
