A/-Methyl-1-phenylmethanamine (0.32 mL, 2.5 mmol) and diisopropylethylamine amine (0.58 mL, 3.3 mmol) were added sequentially to a solution of 2,4-dichloropyrimidine (0.50 g, 3.4 mmol) in Λ/,Λ/'-dimethylformamide (5 mL). The mixture was stirred in a sealed tube for 3 hours at 90 °C. The mixture was evaporated and the residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate and washed with water, dried (MgS0₄), filtered and evaporated. Purification by flash chromatography (3:1 hexanes/ethyl acetate) gave the title compound (0.51 g, 86%) as an oil.LRMS (m/z): 234 (M+1)⁺.H-NMR δ (CDCI₃): 3.08 (bs, 3H), 4.79 (bs, 2H), 6.35 (d, 1 H), 7.14 - 7.41 (m,5H), 8.04 (d, 1 H)
