Steps:

6 Regioselective Silylation with UiO-MOF-Co
General procedure: UiO-68-Co is also an active catalyst for regioselective silylation of benzylic C-H bonds without a directing group. See Table 8, below. The silylation reactions were performed with methylarenes (neat) and Et3SiH under N2 at 100° C. catalyzed by 0.2 mol % UiO-68-Co. See Scheme 11, above. Only benzylic silylated products were obtained from p-Xylene and mesitylene in good yields.
