860g trans-2-butenoic acid, 1050g phenethyl alcohol and 3L cyclohexane were sequentially added to a 10L reaction kettle. After stirring for 10 minutes, 17.2 g of p-toluenesulfonic acid was added, and then the temperature was raised to 80° C., and the reaction was carried out for 6 hours. Distill under reduced pressure at 400 Pa, and collect the fractions with the mother liquor temperature between 98°C and 101°C,That is, 1703 g of trans-2-butenoic acid phenethyl ester with a purity of 98.8% was obtained.
