Triethyl 3-phenylpropane-1,2,2-tricarboxylate (compound 6) (3.33 g, 10 mmol) was dissolved in 20 mL DMSO, added lithium chloride (1.1 g, 25 mmol), water ( 360 mg, 20 mmol), heated to 160 °C and reacted overnight.After the reaction was completed, a large amount of water was added to quench, and extracted with ethyl acetate for several times.The organic phases were combined, washed once with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and spin-dried, and 2.3 g of solid was obtained by column chromatography (Yield: 87%).
