Steps:
1 General procedure for the preparation of the N-phenyloxamate proligands
General procedure: The proligands as ethyl esters were prepared through the following synthetic procedure: the corresponding aniline derivative (83mmol) was dissolved in THF (250mL) under a dinitrogen atmosphere in a two round flask equipped with a condenser and subsequently treated with ethyl chlorooxoacetate (9.3mL, 83mmol) in the presence of triethylamine (12mL, 83mmol) at room temperature under continuous stirring for 30min. The resulting solution was filtered and the solvent was removed under vacuum to afford an oily colourless crude, which quickly becomes solid. The white solid was suspended into water and filtered off, then washed with a small amount of diethyl ether and dried under vacuum.
