1synthesis methods
-

Yield:71721-67-0 91%

Reaction Conditions:

with acetic acid;sodium nitrite in water at 0 - 20; for 24.25 h;

Steps:

Ethyl 2-hydroxyimino-2-(pyridin-2-yl) acetate (7)

To a stirred solution of ethyl 2-pyridylacetate 6 (50.0 g,302.6 mmol s) in water (120 mL) cooled at 0 C, glacial acetic acid(120 mL) was added. After stirring the reaction mixture for 15 min,an aqueous solution of sodium nitrite (40.5 g, 605.3 mmol s in60 mL of water) was added over a period of 15 min. The reactionmixture was then stirred at r.t. for 24 h before it was diluted withwater (200 mL). The solids thus precipitated were filtered, washedwith water and dried under reduced pressure at 50 C to obtain theabove titled compound 7 (53.8 g) as light brown gummy liquid in 91% yield
