Fenbendazole synthesis

5synthesis methods
Fenbendazole is a benzimidazole anthelmintic, which has high anthelmintic activity against gastrointestinal nematodes adults and larvae, but also has good effects on reticulate nematodes, fascioli and tapeworms. The synthetic method is that 5-Chloro-2-nitroaniline reacts with benzenethiol to obtain 5-phenylthio-2-nitroaniline, which is reduced by ferrous sulfate-iron powder to obtain 3-phenylthio-o-phenylenediamine and finally reacts with S-methyl-cyanamide methyl ester via cyclization to give benthiobenzimidazole.
