Steps:
2.a General Procedure 1:
Amidoxime Formation Cyano indole la-d ( 1 equiv.) and hydroxylamine hydrochloride (3 equiv.), and TEA (3 equiv.) were added to a round bottom flask containing ethanol. The reaction mixture was heated to 80 °C for 12 hours or until the reaction appeared to have gone to completion via monitoring by TLC. The solution was cooled to room temperature and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The resulting solid was loaded onto celite and purified on a silica gel column with 0-10% methanol in ethyl acetate.
