To a stirring solution of compound 1(13.1 g, 75 mmol) in acetone (400 mL) and 15%aqueous MgSO4 (12g in 65 mL water) was added KMnO4 (28 g, 176 mmol) at 0 °C and stirred at room temperature for 4 h. After consumption of the starting material (by TLC), quenched thereaction with Na2SO3 aqueous. The mixture was filtered through Celite and the filtrate wasconcentrate under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with water and extracted with DCM. Combined organic extracts were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated under reducedpressure to obtain compound 2 (12.4 g, 87%) as an light yellow solid used for next step directly.LC-MS: m/z = 190.2 [M+H]
