Steps:
General Procedure for the preparation of compound 1 (1a-1i).
General procedure: Appropriate Sulfonyl chloride (1.2 mmol) was added to a solution containing 3-Ethynylaniline [or 4-Ethynylaniline (1.0 mmol)], and pyridine (3.0 mmol) in DCM (10 mL) under a nitrogen atmosphere at 0 °C for 10 minutes. The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for overnight. After completion of the reaction (indicated by TLC) DCM was evaporated. The residue was treated with 2N aqueous HCl (10 ml) and the mixture was diluted with ice-water (60 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3 x 15 mL). The organic layers were collected, combined, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under low vacuum. The residue was purified by column chromatography using hexane and EtOAc (9:1) as eluent to afford the title compound. All the compounds (1a-1i) prepared were characterized by MS, NMR spectra and purity was determined by HPLC method.
