5.2.1.3. Synthetic procedures for compounds 8a-r

General procedure: Compound 8a was synthesized by a facile method improving on the literature [18]: To a solution of compound 7a in anhydrous ethanol, hydrazine monohydrate was added. The mixture was refluxed for 1 h. The resulting solid was removed by filtration, and the filtrate was evaporated on a rotavap. The residue was slurried in anhydrous ether and filtered, and the filtrate was washed with water again. The ether layer was separated, dried with CaCl₂ and evaporated to afford Compound 8a.
