General procedure: Under air, a 20 mL Schlenk tube equipped with a stir bar was charged with chalcone (0.2 mmol), (NH4)2C2O4 (0.8 mmol), I2 (0.04 mmol), TBHP (4 equiv), DMSO (2 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at 100 C for 10 h. After that, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, and the residue was diluted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, and then dried over anhydrous Na2- SO4. Then, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel flash chromatography to give the desired products
