General procedure of the epoxides
General procedure: A solution of 4-tert-butyltoluene (89.0 mg, 0.60 mmol), AQN-2-CO2H (1a, 0.3 mmol), AcOEt (2.5 mL), and MeCN (2.5 mL) in a pyrex tube (15 mm × 150 mm) equipped with O2-balloon was stirred and irradiated using the fluorescent lamp for 20 h. Then, an alkene was added to the reaction mixture at room temperature for period of time. The resulting solution was concentrated under reduced pressure and purified by PTLC gave the corresponding epoxide.
