Reaction Conditions:

with hydrogen;triphenylphosphine;Lindlar's catalyst in methanol at 20;Product distribution / selectivity;

Steps:

1.c

At first, a three-necked flask equipped with a stirrer was charged with 0.5 g of Lindlar catalyst (Pd-CaCO3) and 2.5 g of triphenylphosphine (PPh3). Then, 350 ml of a methanol (MeOH) solution (containing 50 g (0.19 mol) of the compound of the formula (10) obtained by the step (b)) were added to the flask. Then, while hydrogen (H2) was introduced, the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature to conduct the reaction. After the reaction, the catalyst was removed by filtration. The resulting filtrate was concentrated by an evaporator, followed by vacuum distillation, thereby obtaining 43.1 g of a compound of the formula (18) (yield: 86%). This compound was found to have the following characteristics. [0073] 1H-NMR (TMS, CDCl3): 3.44 (1H, s), 5.33 (1H, d, J=10.8 Hz), 5.81 (1H, d, J=17.6 Hz), 6.72 (1H, dd, J=17.6, 10.8 Hz), 7.46 (2H, d, J=8.0 Hz), 7.68 (2H, d, J=8.4 Hz)
