A Typical Procedure for the Synthesis of PentaerythritolGlycidyl Ether
Pentaerythritol glycidyl ether (Scheme 2) was preparedunder phase-transfer catalytic conditions reported previously[11]. According to the reaction principle, pentaerythritolglycidyl ether was prepared by the successivetreatment of a mixture of epichlorohydrin and pentaerythritol(8:1 molar ratio) in 8 mol/L NaOH aqueous solution at50 C for 10 h with 0.1 molar tetrabutyl ammoniumhydrogen sulfate as the phase-transfer catalyzer, followedby the addition of 4 mol/L NaOH aqueous solution at roomtemperature for 20 h. Reaction products were filtered toremove the solids generated in the system, the filtrate wasthen added to the dichloromethane, washed with saturatedsalt to pH = 7, pentaerythritol glycidyl ether was obtainedby distillation under reduced pressure (70-86 % yield). Thereaction equation of esterification is shown in Scheme 3a.
