Synthesis of Benzylic and Aliphatic Azides; General Procedure

General procedure: NaN3 (2.0 equiv) in H2O (0.1 mL/mmol) was added to a stirred solutionof the benzylic/aliphatic bromide (1.0 equiv) in THF (2.5mL/mmol). The resulting suspension was stirred at 80 °C for 3 h. Themixture was extracted with CH2Cl2, washed with water and brine,dried (Na2SO4), and filtered, and the solvent was evaporated under reducedpressure. The azide was obtained in quantitative yield and wasused without further purification and isolation.
