Pyridazinone, Compound 2b, (2g, 9.2 mmol) was added to a flask containing25 ml POCb. The solution was refluxed for 1 h. POCI₃ was removed. Add ice-water slowly to the residue. Collect the precipitation. The crude residue was chromatographed (1:50 MeOHiCH₂Cl₂). 3-Chloro-6-(3-nitrophenyl)pyridazine (Compound 2c) was obtained in 91% yield.
