Step 1, benzylamine (5 mmol, 600 mg) and toluene (10 mL) were added to a 100 mL round bottom flask, and triphosgene (5 mmol, 1.5 g) was added under stirring, and the reaction was refluxed for 4 hours. The solvent was removed by concentration, then dichloromethane (5 mL) was evaporated.
