Production Example 58 Synthesis of (S)-3-hydroxy-1-(4-pyridyl)pyrrolidine A solution of (R)-3-pyrrolidinol hydrochloride (1.0 g, 8.1 mmol), 4-chloropyrrolidine (1.50 g, 10 mmol) and triethylamine (5.5 ml) in ethanol/water (2.5 ml/7.5 ml) was heated at 150°C under agitation for 7 hours in a sealed tube. After cooling, the reaction product was diluted in ethanol (50 ml) and dried over potassium carbonate, and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue so obtained was purified by flash column chromatography (chloroform/methanol = 7/3), whereby the title compound was obtained (0.99 g, 85%).
