Steps:
Synthesis of 3-(N-tert-Butyloxycarbonylamino)-4-methoxyphenyl iodide
Di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (1.3 g, 6 mmol) was added to a solution of 3-amino-4-methyloxyphenyliodide (1 g, 4 mmol) in 50 ml of EtOH.7 The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 36h. The reaction solution was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel (pentane/CH2Cl2, 2:1) to give 3-(N-tert-butyloxycarbonylamino)-4-methoxyphenyl iodide (1.34g, 3.84 mmol, 96%) as white crystals.
