Steps:

Synthesis of cyclopropylthiazoles.

General procedure: A solution of halo ketone 1a-c (27 mmol) and thioamide (27 mmol) in 100 ml of methanol was heated to reflux for 2 h for bromo ketones or 10 h for chloro ketones. The solvent was removed in vacuo, the residue was treated with 100 ml of saturated NaHCO3 solution and extracted with chloroform (3 × 70 ml). The combined organic layer was dried over anhydrous MgSO4 and evaporated in vacuoto give the crude product, which was additionally purified by flash columnchromatography.
