| Description | Hydrogenated terphenyls are a complex mix-ture of partially hydrogenated terphenyl isomers. They areclear, oily, pale-yellow liquids with a faint odor. Molecularweight = 241.00; 298.00 (40% hydrogenated); Specificgravity (H2O:1l) = 1.00; Boiling point = 340℃ (40% hydro-genated); FreezingMelting point= 148℃ (40% hydroge-nated); V aporpressure= 13 Paat25℃;Flashpoint= 157℃ (cc); Autoignition temperature = 374℃.Insoluble in water. | | General Description | Clear, oily, pale-yellow liquid with a faint odor. A mixture of numerous compounds and isomers depending on the degree and conditions of hydrogenation The 40% hydrogenated mixture has bp: 340°C, density: 1.00 g cm-3, and is insoluble in water. Used as a plasticizer and as a heat-transfer medium. Can be absorbed through the skin and by ingestion. | | Reactivity Profile | Terphenyl, hydrogenated are non-flammable (flash-point 157°C for 40% hydrogenated mixture), but combustible. Resist decomposition but break down to produce acrid smoke when heated sufficiently.
