Valsartan은 AT1 수용체 아형에 선택적으로 영향을 미치고 AT1 수용체와의 AT1 수용체 길항 효과 (AT1 수용체 길항 효과는 AT2 수용체에 대한 효과보다 약 20000 배 더 높음)를 차단하여 혈압 저하 및 알도스테론 방출을 억제하여 항 고혈압 효과를 일으키지 만 칼륨 이온 (K +)에 의한 알도스테론의 방출을 억제한다. 바르 사르 탄은 안지오텐신 전환 효소 (ACE) 또는 레닌 및 그 수용체에 영향을 미치지 않으며 혈압 조절 및 나트륨 균형과 관련된 이온 채널을 억제하지 않습니다. 바르 사르 탄은 ACE를 억제하지 않으며 신체 브래디 키닌 수치에 영향을 미치지 않으므로 ACE 억제제보다 기침 부작용이 적습니다. 발사탄은 혈압을 낮추면 심장 박동에 영향을주지 않습니다. 발사 르탄 사용이 갑자기 중단되면 고혈압이나 다른 부작용이 발생하지 않습니다. Diovan(Valsartan) was launched in Germany and the UK as an angiotensin Ⅱ antagonist for use as an antihypertensive agent. Biphenylbromomethyl nitrite serves as the starting material for a three step synthesis of the compound, in which the (S)- enantiomer is more active than the (R)-enantiomer. Valsartan is a nonpeptide drug which is a highly specific antagonist of the AT1 receptor and is potent and orally active. This receptor is responsible for angiotensin Ⅱ cardiovascular effects (aldosterone and catecholamine secretion, vascular constriction, positive inotropic response and renal effects). Unlike losartan, it is not a prodrug and a single daily dose is comparible in activity to the ACE drug enalapril. It also did not exhibit the coughing side effect observed with ACE inhibitors. Diovan(Valsartan) is slowly metabolized (long lasting) with its main metabolite being significantly less active. There was no evidence of rebound hypertension when drug treatment was terminated and was as effective as the dihydropyridine Ca antagonist anlodipine.화학적 성질

In addition,the biphenyl system that serves to separate the tetrazolefrom the aliphatic nitrogen is still present.
