General DescriptionA white to light colored solid. Insoluble in water and more dense than water. Can be explosive if allowed to dry out. Contact may cause irritation to skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. May be toxic by ingestion. If exposed to high temperatures or flames may ignite and burn with an intense flame.
Air & Water ReactionsFlammable. Insoluble in water.
Reactivity ProfileOrganosulfides, such as DIPICRYL SULFIDE, are incompatible with acids, diazo and azo compounds, halocarbons, isocyanates, aldehydes, alkali metals, nitrides, hydrides, and other strong reducing agents. Reactions with these materials generate heat and in many cases hydrogen gas. Many of these compounds may liberate hydrogen sulfide upon decomposition or reaction with an acid.
