Incompatible with strong oxidizers, caustics; chemically active metals, such as aluminum, magnesium powders; potassium, lithium, and sodium; concentrated nitric acid causing fire and explosion hazard. Contact with hot surfaces or flames causes decomposition producing fumes of hydrogen chloride and phosgene gas. Attacks some forms of plastics, rubber and coatings.
