Hazard Information | Back Directory | [General Description]
An amber to straw colored liquid. Slightly less dense than water. Flash point 150°F. May emit toxic oxides of nitrogen at high temperatures. Used to make other chemicals. | [Reactivity Profile]
ISOPROPYLAMINOETHANOL(109-56-8) is an aminoalcohol. Amines are chemical bases. They neutralize acids to form salts plus water. These acid-base reactions are exothermic. The amount of heat that is evolved per mole of amine in a neutralization is largely independent of the strength of the amine as a base. Amines may be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides. Flammable gaseous hydrogen is generated by amines in combination with strong reducing agents, such as hydrides. | [Air & Water Reactions]
Highly flammable. Slightly soluble in water | [Health Hazard]
Inhalation or contact with material may irritate or burn skin and eyes. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may cause pollution. | [Chemical Properties]
Amber to straw-colored liquid. Combustible. |
