All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project
(www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.
The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. To view these
protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit .
Allgemeine Beschreibung
TREM2 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2) is a transmembrane receptor belonging to the immunoglobulin (Ig) family. It is composed of an extracellular region containing the Ig-like domain and a cytoplasmic tail. It has a transmembrane region of 33 amino acids followed by a cytoplasmic tail. It is expressed on myeloid cells such as, macrophages found in tissue and dendritic cells, on microglial cells in the brain.
Biochem/physiol Actions
TREM2 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2) is involved in bacterial phagocytosis and regulation of inflammatory response. Its presence in microglia helps to remove the neural debris i.e. amyloid β peptide (Aβ) on microglia. TREM2 suppresses the ability of microglia to phagocytize Aβ, and disturbs the pro-inflammatory activity of these cells. Parkinson′s disease (PD) is portrayed by the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons, in the substantia nigra standards compacta district of the cerebrum. TREM2 binds specifically to the ligands expressed by these dopaminergic neurons. Likewise, microgliosis is additionally involved in the progress of PD. Hence, TREM2 gene might be linked to susceptibility to PD. p.R47H polymorphism in this gene is identified with increased risk of sporadic amyotrophic sidelong sclerosis. Mutation in TREM2 is also associated with polycystic lipomembranous osteodysplaysia with sclerosing leukoencephalop.
