Beschreibung
First isolated from Crotalaria retusa L., this pyrrolizidine alkaloid has since been
discovered in C. crassipes Hook, C. rnitchel/ii Benth. and C. novae-hollandiae DC.
It has [α]
D+ 13° (c 1.93, EtOH) and on hydrogenation yields dihydrodeoxyotonecine and retusaminic acid, m.p. l64-164.5°C; [α]
20D - 45° (c 0.36, EtOH).
