Naphthalene-1,3-disulfonic acid [6094- 26-4], C10H8O6S2, Mr 288.28, is produced only in small proportion on disulfonation of naphthalene and cannot be separated. It is prepared in good yield in the laboratory by diazotization and copper-catalyzed deamination of 2- aminonaphthalene-6,8-disulfonic acid.
