Occurrence

An unclassified species of Hazunta yields this alkaloid. Silicine crystallizes from MeOH as colourless rods and is laevorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D -18° (c 1.0, CHCl33). The ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH has absorption maxima at 239 and 314 nm.
