Chemische Eigenschaften

ETFE is an alternating copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and ethylene similar in properties to polytetrafluoroethylene, but it has higher impact and tensile strengths. Other properties include low dielectric constant, excellent resistivity, and low dissipation factors. Thermal and cryogenic performance and chemical resistance are rated as good.

Verwenden

ETFE is used in thin coatings, heavy wall logging cables, insulation, tubing, and fasteners.

Vorbereitung Methode

To prepare ETFE, ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene are copolymerized in aqueous, nonaqueous, or a mixed medium with free-radical initiators. The polymer is isolated and converted into extruded cubes, powders, and beads.
