Rhodamine Chemical Properties,Uses,Production
Description
Rhodamine (RhB) is a xanthene derivative structurally related to fluorescein but with additional chemical substitutions that shift its excitation and emission spectra to longer wavelengths. In biology, it is a cell-permeable cationic green fluorescent dye that is readily sequestered by active mitochondria, has no cytotoxic effects, and can be used to determine mitochondrial membrane potential in apoptotic cell populations.
Uses
Rhodamine (RhB), one of the most commonly used dyes, is widely used for industrial purposes such as printing and dyeing in the textile, paper, paint and leather industries.
