Description
A hex acyclic alkaloid present in the skin secretions of various species of Salamandra (salamanders), the base yields a crystalline hydrochloride, m.p. 343°C; [α]24578 + 14.1° and a hydrobromide which crystallizes from MeOH with solvent of crystallization, m.p. 346°C. The structure has been determined from the infrared, NMR and mass spectra.
