Uses
Synthesis of hyperbranched polylysine using the N-hydroxysuccinimide ester of L-lysine dihydrochloride as AB 2 building block. The histidine and lysine standards were prepared from L-histidine monohydro- chloride and L-lysine dihydrochloride respectively. L-Homocitrulline-The copper complex was prepared from L-lysine dihydrochloride in 80 to 86 per cent yields.
Biological Activity
L-Lysine is an essential proteinogenic α amino acid used in a wide range of applications including as a supplement in cell culture media; a substrate of enzymes such as L-lysine oxidase (EC 1.4.3.14); a component of poly-lysine polymers; and a substrate for oxidation and glycation mechanism studies.
Purification Methods
Crystallise it from MeOH, in the presence of excess HCl, by adding diethyl ether. [Yoneya J Biochem (Tokyo) 38 343 1951, Kearley & Ingersoll J Am Chem Soc 73 5783 1951, Beilstein 4 IV 2717.]
