Uses
This ester amyl furoate finds use in flavor compositions for imitation Rum, Maple, Caramel, Butterscotch, etc. Concentration in finished product usually about 10 ppm.
Synthesis
Amyl furoate is produced by direct esterification of Pyromucic acid with Amyl alcohol. The acid is prepared from Furfural by oxidation.
