Salts of N,N' N''-triaminoguanidine [2203-24-9], CH8N6, Mr 104.11, are formed by heating the corresponding guanidine salts with hydrazine (molar ratio 1 : 3) in aqueous solution or in alcohol. The triaminoguanidine base can be liberated from its salts by treatment with sodium hydroxide and can be crystallized from aqueous dimethylformamide.
