8-(2,2-diethoxyethoxy)-2,6-dimethyloct-2-ene is stable in mild alkali, and has
therefore been suggested as a stabilizer for the
aldehyde to extend the use of the much more
powerful aldehyde.
In itself the acetal does not contribute much
odor and has apparently no other mission in
perfumery than that of accompanying and
protecting the aldehyde.
