칸데릴라 왁스 C화학적 특성, 용도, 생산

순도시험

  (1) 융점 : 이 품목의 융점은 68～73℃이어야 한다.

  (2) 산가 : 이 품목 약 3g을 정밀히 달아 자일렌․에탄올의 혼액(3 : 5) 80mL를 가하여 녹이고 시험용액으로 하여 향료시험법 중 산가측정법에 따라 시험을 할 때, 그 양은 12.0～24.0이어야 한다. 단, 적정은 따뜻할 때 행한다.

  (3) 검화가 : 이 품목 1g을 검화용 플라스크에 정밀히 달아, 자일렌․에탄올의 혼액(3→5) 50mL와 알콜성수산화칼륨시액 25mL를 정확히 가해준 다음 환류냉각기를 부착하고 때때로 흔들어 섞으면서 1시간 가열한다. 따뜻하게 한 다음 이하 유지류시험법 중 검화가에 따라 시험하였을 때, 그 값은 43～65이어야 한다.

  (4) 비소 : 이 품목을 비소시험법에 따라 시험할 때, 그 양은 4.0ppm 이하이어야 한다.

  (5) 납 : 이 품목 5.0g을 취하여 원자흡광광도법 또는 유도결합플라즈마발광광도법에 따라 시험할 때, 그 양은 2.0ppm 이하이어야 한다.

  (6) 수은 : 이 품목을 수은시험법에 따라 시험할 때, 그 양은 1.0ppm 이하이어야 한다.

확인시험

  (1) 이 품목 1～2mg을 취하여 적외부흡수스펙트럼측정법 (1) 브롬화칼륨정제법에 따라 시험을 할 때, 아래와 같은 스펙트럼을 나타낸다.

정의

  이 품목은 대극과 대극(Euphorbia antisyphilitica ZUCC.)의 줄기를 채취 정제하여 얻어지는 것이다.

강열잔류물

  이 품목의 강열잔류물은 0.3% 이하이어야 한다.

화학적 성질

Candelilla wax is obtained from several species of Euphorbiaceae, rush-like perennial plants that grow in the semiarid regions of northern Mexico and southern Texas, and to a limited extent in Arizona and southern California. The plants consist of numerous slender, leafless cylindrical stalks 2 to 5 ft high, covered with a powdery wax that gives the plant a blue-green color.
The wax is extracted from the plants by immersing the dried stalks in boiling water acidified with sulfuric acid; the molten product is skimmed off as it rises to the surface. The wax is transferred to lead-lined tanks, kept at the boiling point to remove water, and then allowed to settle to remove any dirt present. The yield of clarified wax is from 1.5 to 3.0% of the air-dried plant. The sole criterion of purity is usually the color of the product, which varies from light yellow to brown. 용도

candelilla wax (Euphorbia cerifera) binds oils and waxes, and gives body to a formulation. It is also used as a film former. It is obtained from candelilla plants and is similar to carnauba wax.

정의

Yellowish-brown, opaque to translucent solid. Soluble in chloroform, turpentine, carbon tetrachloride, trichloroethylene, toluene, hot petroleum ether, and alkalies; insoluble in water. Combustible.
