metiazinic acid Usage And Synthesis
OriginatorSoripan,Specia,France,1970
DefinitionChEBI: Phenothiazine substituted at nitrogen by a methyl group and at C-2 by a carboxymethyl group.
Manufacturing Process10-Methyl-3-acetylphenthiazine is prepared in accordance with G. Cauquil and A. Casadevall, Bull. Soc.Chim., p 768 (1955). (10-Methyl-3-phenthiazinyl)acetic acid (MP 146°C; 21.4 g) is prepared by Willgerodt's reaction (action of sulfur and morpholine, followed by hydrolysis) employing 10-methyl-3-acetylphenthiazine as starting material.
Therapeutic FunctionAntiinflammatory
Trade nameRoimal (Kantoishi, Japan), Soripal (Torii, Japan).
SynthesisMetiazinic acid is prepared via the Willgerodt reaction (sulfur and morpholine) from 2-acetyl-10-methylphenothiazine.
Synthesis of metiazinic acid
DosageMetiazinic acid has been beneficial to arthritis patients when given at a daily dose of 0.75 – 1.5 g/d.
