Chemical PropertiesColorless viscous oily liquid. Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and perfume oils, poorly soluble in propylene glycol.
Uses Geranoxy acetaldehyde is used in perfume compositions for variations of the Rose theme, also for "Peony" notes and other delicate nuances, and in Freesia and other sweet floral fragrances.
PreparationGeranoxy acetaldehyde is a analogous with the preparation of Citronellyl oxyacetaldehyde. One commercial product consists almost entirely of Citronellyl oxyacetaldehyde with minor bouquetting additives and by-products included.
