| GTP-GAMMA-S TETRALITHIUM SALT Usage And Synthesis |
Uses | Guanosine 5′-[γ-thio]triphosphate tetralithium salt has been used:
- as a component of lysis buffer
- in oocyte and mammalian cell patch-clamp experiments to keep the G proteins in a constantly active state
- to couple with G- protein α, to study its effect on kinase activity
| General Description | G-protein-activating GTP analog, which is more resistant to hydrolysis than GTP. Induces exocytosis in isolated mouse pancreatic acinar cells. Also reported to stimulate insulin release from pancreatic β-cells. | Biochem/physiol Actions | GTP-γ-S is a non-hydrolyzable GTP analog, known for its role as a G-protein activator. It has recently been shown to protect proteins from proteolytic degradation, stimulate GLUT4 translocation in a tyrosine kinase-dependent manner, stimulate phospholipases and induce actin polymerization in vitro. |
