| DIDECYLAMINE Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | white solid | Uses | Didecylamine is a nitrogen containing organic building blocks. It is also shown to be used as a substrate for the growth of gram-negative Pseudomonas sp bacteria obtained from the activated sludge. | Purification Methods | Dissolve the amine in *benzene and precipitate it as its bisulfate by shaking with 4M H2SO4. Filter, wash with *benzene, separate by centrifugation, then the free base is obtained by treating with NaOH [McDowell & Allen J Phys Chem 65 1358 1961]. It is a strong base; store away from CO2.
